Red Cross Victorian Floods Appeal Concert

E-mail Print PDF

The Red Cross Victorian Floods Appeal concert held on Saturday June 4th was great success and all who attended were treated to a delightful program of Australiana with well known Australian songs and readings. Presented in the beautiful Cowen Gallery at the State Library of Victoria the Choir, along with special guest artist - singer/songwriter Mike Brady and MC Caroline Ferguson, entertained those present with a stylish performance. Eleanor Kerr, the Ashton Smith Singers resident and popular soloist, sang with energy and superb vocal prowess and young Australian Music Events [AME] scholar of the year Alexandra Flood impressed with her lovely warm soprano. Mary Torpy also added much with her rendition of Judith Durham's 'Australia Land of Today'. The program was expertly accompanied by Adrian Szondy at the piano. The audience were treated to drinks and nibbles in the main dome reading room duing the interval.

An amount of $6,000 was raised and passed on Red Cross.

Please check the Events Calendar for details of the choir’s 2011 event schedule.
